- Is there any difference between the six awards in the selection process?
No. All nominations will be assessed according to the same judging criteria set out in Judging Criteria & Process and Notes on Submission. The Judging Panel reserves the right on the final decision of the awardees and the number of awards.
- If I could only afford to go overseas for less than a year, would the sponsored amount be reduced proportionally?
No, the actual amount of the sponsorship would depend on the actual expenditure of the approved items (see Sponsorship Coverage and Undertaking) and subject to the maximum amount and period of the sponsorship of the relevant award.
- Would nomination from a former employer be accepted?
Yes.
- If I have more than one nominator, what should I do?
You should choose one of them to be your nominator. Remarks or comments from parties other than the nominator could be submitted as additional supporting information.
- Can a nominator nominate more than one candidate at any one time?
Each nominator may nominate a maximum of three candidates only. Separate nomination form should be used for each nominee.
- Are application form and nomination form required to be submitted together?
The application form and nomination form shall be submitted separately online, and before the deadline. All late submission will not be considered.
- If I am a staff of one of the co-organiser/sponsoring company, can I be a nominator/applicant?
The organiser, co-organisers, sponsors and members of the judging panel are not eligible to nominate.
However, their employees are eligible to nominate or be nominated in their personal capacity as design professionals.
- What is a permanent resident of Hong Kong?

- Would the working experience as a free-lance designer be accepted in the context of the one-year working experience?
Yes, subject to availability of evidence showing that the work is a full-time job.
- Is there any limitation on the design works of the portfolio to be submitted for Hong Kong Young Design Talent Awards?
Each nominee may submit a minimum of 10 pieces of works of his/her portfolio which must cover design deliverables during the study and working period, and may also include his/her design-related articles/publications. Portfolio of design works must be submitted together with the application form and portfolio summary in the format of both printouts and digital copies. For digital copies, please save the pictures in PC format in a CD-Rom.
- What are the procedures after the submission of application?
Upon receipt of a submission, an acknowledgement letter will be issued to the applicant. If the applicant does not receive the acknowledgement letter within one week from the date of submission, please contact the HKYDTA Secretariat.
Shortlisted applicants may be invited for interview by the Judging Panel around October 2009.
- What if I need to change the information that has submitted to the organiser?
If an applicant needs to change the information that has submitted to the organiser (e.g. correspondence address or contact number), he/she should notify the organiser immediately in writing, by email or by fax.
- When will the results of the Hong Kong Young Design Talent Awards 2009 be announced?
Results will be announced in December 2009. The awardees will be informed individually and be invited to attend an award presentation ceremony.
- What will happen to my portfolio of design works after the judging?
All submitted documents and portfolios will not be returned. The organiser also reserves the right to use the portfolios of awardees in whole or in part for publicity purposes.
