Awards for Practising Designers

Sponsorship Coverage

The awards will be issued as a grant to awardees. Subject to the maximum amount of the award concerned, the award covers 90% of the costs directly related to the overseas work attachment including (where appropriate):

  • air fares (economy class)
  • work attachment expenses
  • lodging
  • living expenses
  • any other costs that have been approved by the organiser

The awardee is required to submit a detailed plan on the use of the award for approval by the organiser, and commence the approved work attachment within 12 months from the date of the notification letter of the award.

The applicant should also be aware that

  1. winners of the “DesignSmart Young Design Talent Award” will have to undergo two compulsory and consecutive work attachments. Each work attachment will last for no less than six months. The winner may choose to further his/her studies in addition to the compulsory work attachments afterwards.

  2. winners of the “HKDI Young Design Talent Educational Award” and “PolyU School of Design Young Design Talent Educational Award” will have to undergo at least one attachment for no less than six months. The winner may choose to further his/her studies in addition to the compulsory work attachment afterwards

 

 

Undertaking

The awardee is required to sign an undertaking to contribute to the development of design and innovation in Hong Kong by returning immediately after completion of his/her training and/or work attachment to work in Hong Kong for two years continuously (in the case of the DesignSmart Young Design Talent Awards) or one year continuously (in the case of the other awards), and to share his/her experience in the training and/or work attachment as may be required by the organiser. Should the awardee fail to comply with the undertaking, he/she may be required to return the grant received under the award to the organiser or sponsors.

 

 

Awards for Design Students

  • air fares (economy class)
  • training/attachment expenses
  • lodging
  • living expenses
  • any other costs that have been approved by the organiser

The awardee is required to submit a detailed plan on the use of the award for approval by the organiser, and commence the approved study within 12 months from the date of the notification letter of the award.

 

Undertaking

The awardee is required to sign an undertaking to attend the overseas study and after completion, to share his/her experience in the study, as may be required by the organiser. Should the awardee fail to comply with the undertaking, he/she may be required to return the grant received under the award to the organiser or sponsors.
